Daily Bread - Psalm 27:1-14 , dream, methods

Daily Bread

Psalm 27:1-14
Key Verses: 4, 14

One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

This is what I said yesterday, but not in so many words :) This is my growing hope. But until then...

Wait for the LORD;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the LORD.

This morning as I was fighting drowsiness I had a dream. I was doing homework with my group. I was very frustrated, but I calmed down and went to find a quieter place to do work on the project with a teammate. We went down a few floors and were greeted by two women all in gaudy attire and makeup. I passed by, trying not to pay attention, though they looked at me with vultures' eyes.
We went to the far side of the room and began to work. Then on the radio, Because He Lives came on. We all started singing - everyone in the room. Suddenly, the radio sputtered and stopped and everyone trailed off singing. Everyone but me. I kept singing, in a small voice. When it was over, they all commended me for knowing the song so well. I shook my head sadly, frustrated, and said - no, we sing this at my church all the time.
Then, the door next to us opened and some guys came in. They were chatting and I overheard one say in a clear voice: "I like the Old Testament."
I am not sure if I turned toward him or kept my eyes on the tiles in front of me when I asked, "Have you read it? Do you know it?"
And then I woke up.

Since I have started to get deeper into my faith, I wanted to reflect on what all I did. Where did it begin? I put it behind the cut because I think everyone is sick of my long posts! Still, if you are curious, Collapse )

The Church, the saints, the authors of the Bible

Romans 12:4-5. One body with many members.

I was thinking about this in comparison to the Bible as a whole. One book written by many people. Just as the Bible is made of the inspired word of God through many different people, so believers should do God's work as one body.

Think on it, now.

You have the Law of Moses boldly proclaimed from the mountain tops and the vast deserts. You have the love songs of Solomon, spoken with kindness to his beloved in the season of spring. You have the contemplations of Job, a man left with nothing but his faith. You have also the letters from Peter and from Paul to friends scattered across Asia, Greece, and Israel. You have warnings from Jeremiah, preached at the gate to the temple in Jerusalem. All these were merely people like myself. Well, I mean, they were amazing and holy people, with much more faith than I -- but they were still human. But we tread where the saints have trod. Indeed, the believers are called as saints. What a powerful and encouraging idea! I can claim to be in good company with Moses and the saints because I reduce myself to nothing and put all my hope in Jesus alone. In him, all believers are servants and children of God! May I continue to learn from my brothers and sisters, from those who have gone before and those who are with me now!! :)
