Early morning prayer

When I tell people that I attend daily (except for Sunday and Monday) early morning prayer service at 5:30 am, they tend to wonder why in the world would I want to do that?

Well, let's see. There is a sense of contentedness that one gets from having the day start with structure and with direction. As God created the world with His word, so I can allow Him to create each day for me through His powerful word. Also, we sing praises; and over the past few months, worship has really been something that I have more and more desire to do. It is satisfying to know that the appreciation does not go unheard.

(Side note) Over the years, I have become so tired of pouring out appreciation that seems vain. I spent many years studying historical people and devoted my heart to them - but they cannot hear me. Also, I devoted myself to appreciation for the arts - but it was undirected and unreceived. With true worship, though, the heart does not offer in vain.

Last but not least, it gives me a guaranteed 45 minutes every day to pray. Prayer is powerful. It's the "radio for speaking to God!" In order to walk with God, we need to actually communicate with Him.

So, there's actually a lot of reasons to attend early morning prayer meetings (EMPM)! :)

But I think it's best to be sure to attend together with another person or a small group. My Bible teacher, Maria, picks me up and we go together. We tend to keep each other on our toes - otherwise, we might just sleep all morning and wake up with that cruddy drowsy feeling.
