Shine as Light

Moses was a man whose face shone. In fact, his face was so radiant that even his own brother was afraid to go up close to him because of the brightness (Exodus 34:30)! Now, Moses wasn't radiant because of some magic he performed or some monumental deeds that he did. In fact, his face did not shine all the time. It was only after Moses spoke with God face to face that his face shone. (Exodus 34:29, 34-35) And it is kind of funny because Moses wasn't aware that anything funny had happened to the way he looked :)

Light doesn't come from some personal power, idea, or skill - light comes from reflection. I am a moon. This light is not produced, it is received (Romans 7:18, Romans 8:11, John 1:4). Those who meet the LORD face to face, it is they who reflect the light of God and shine with His light. I want this to be true of me, too!

"The LORD make His face shine on you..." -Numbers 6:25

"Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!
They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance." -Psalm 89:15

"Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you." -Isaiah 60:1
