Following the Rabbi

Today my boss emailed me about a very important meeting that was scheduled. Together with my supervisor and the director, we'll be providing information about the technical program that I work on. When I asked my boss who would be doing the speaking, she replied, "You will."

While not surprised, I began to feel those familiar signs of anxiety washing over me. I paused a moment and told myself, "What have you been learning in Sunday School? Has this study of the "fear of man" not taught you anything?" So I turned my eyes to Christ.

Ah, my good Teacher leads me into places where I don't want to go in order to teach me. When I plead, "But, Rabbi, I don't want to do that..." His response is, "Will you follow me?" Lord, it's so much easier to say that I will cheerfully endure struggles than to actually confront them in their practical, real forms. Help me not to fear, Lord, and make me more holy.

Psalm 27:1-3
"The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?...
Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear..."

Psalm 23:4
"...I will fear no evil;
For You are with me..."

Leader of Judah Sister / Wife Priest

The phrase "a man of great wealth...His name was Boaz" led me to a study of the line of Judah and I noticed an interesting parallel between these two women. Elisheba and Jehosheba were both sisters of the rulers of the tribe of Judah and married to the High Priest (Exodus 6:23, Numbers 2:3, 2 Chronicles 22:11). Do they speak to the relationships that the Church has with Christ?

John 20:17 "Jesus said to her, '...go to My brethren and say to them, "I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God."'"

Ephesians 5:25-27 "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her... that He might present her to Himself a glorious church..."
