1 Peter morning study

Last week (was it last week?) at work as I sat in my cubical looking at my Bible references and cards, I thought, "I need the reality of God's Kingdom to be more real to me than it is now." Praise the Lord that He answers prayer :) I've been reading through 1 Peter during my morning quiet time and it's been a slow but steadily growing blessing to me. Peter speaks of Christians as belonging to another world:

"To those who reside as aliens scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia,..." 1:1
"Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts..." 2:11

"...has caused us to be born again to a living hope..." 1:3
"for you have been born again...through the living and enduring word of God." 1:23

I love the rich language Peter uses. Here are some phrases from chapters 1 and 2:

"an inheritance which is imperishable"
"the power of God"
"salvation"
"the Spirit of Christ"
"things into which angels long to look"
"fix your hope completely on the grace"
"be holy"
"during the time of your stay on earth"
"precious blood"
"obedience to the truth"
"from the heart"
"pure milk"
"a living stone"
"precious in the sight of God"
"A royal PRIESTHOOD"
"A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION"
"His marvelous light"
"RECEIVED MERCY"
"Beloved"
"free men"
"bondslaves of God"
"die to sin"
"live to righteousness"
"healed"
"returned to the Shepherd"
