Psalm 22

"But You are holy"
"But I am a worm"

The speaker in Psalm 22 recognizes both who God is and who he is.

Does this cause the speaker to flee from God's presence? Does this cause the speaker to fall into despondency and discouragement? No, no. All of this causes the speaker to cry out to God all the more: "Be not far from Me" "You have brought Me to the dust of death...But You, O LORD, do not be far from Me" "O My Strength, hasten to help Me!" "Deliver Me... Save Me...!"

Ruth: relationships

This is probably a stretch, but as I was reflecting on Ruth, I couldn't help but consider this possible parallel with Jehoshabeath:

Jehoshabeath was the daughter of the king. Ruth was the daughter-in-law of "Elimelech" (God is King).
Jehoshabeath was the wife of the priest (who redeemed the people from sin through sacrifices). Ruth was the wife of her kinsman-redeemer Boaz.
Jehoshabeath and Ruth both married men much older than themselves, it seems.
Holy Spirit, Acts 1, flame

"But Freder did not see his father. He only saw an obstacle between him and the girl." -Metropolis page 71

"But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren." James 1:14-16

Need to

I've been reading through some question - answer posts from recently and this statement was incredibly helpful for me:

(Original post:

You can translate it roughly with Google Translate. The idea is that God does not "need" our service, our prayers, our songs etc, but that we need those things because its through them that we begin to understand Him. These are means by which He inclines our hearts to Himself, granted that they are saturated with the truth of His word and the blessing of His Holy Spirit.
