Daily Bread - Luke 15:11-32

Daily Bread

Title: Lost, no longer
Luke 15:11-32

Just a sun to light the way
To places where my friends turn to strangers
On    a    long,    long    empty    road."

It's so easy to become lost. Yet, God has mercy on us and waits eagerly for us to turn back to Him. If we do, he won't even let us get to the door -- He will run out to meet us and greet us with an embrace!! He doesn't sit at home and mock. He doesn't sit at home and condemn. He waits with a heart of love... I think 2 Peter 3:9 explains this very clearly.

I forgot that the son in this parable actually confesses to His father in verse 21. Did you see the father's reaction, though? He didn't (like I might) say, "Well, yes son, you know, that was a lot of money you wasted on wild living, but...I guess I forgive you." No, the father said this: "But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate." God gives grace and then glory freely and joyfully to those who ask!!

One Word: Come home
