Title: The man of understanding
Key verse 2
Last night I organized myself a little and got back into reading through the Bible to catch up with all my brothers and sisters at home. I had gotten as far as Job, which meant that I began reading Psalms. I read the first 30 or so and found some interesting verses. Ironically, this was one of them!
The LORD looked forth from heaven upon the children of men,
to see if there were any man of understanding, that did seek after God.
Here, again, is the idea that the man of understanding and of wisdom seeks after God. The truly wise man does not bloat up in his knowledge. Nor does he feel satisfied in his wisdom.
He knows that he will never know it all and realizes that 'life' means 'growth.' In the past, I used to see wisdom as a static idea to attain. I want to be wise 'because it is good.' Yes, it is good - but not because of the knowledge alone.
Knowledge should prompt us to reach farther and to become more humble.
One Word: Wisdom that seeks, wisdom that grows
