Scattered meditations

"To grant us that we,
Being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear,
In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life." -Luke 1:74-75

These verses struck me as I read them this past weekend. That the children of God will serve Him without fear reminds me that "perfect love casts out fear." (1 John 4:18) So it must be in an atmosphere of complete (and perpetual) love and peace that such things will happen. Sounds good to me!

"...we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." -2 Peter 3:13

This is another verse that speaks of the righteousness (the right-ness) of God's kingdom. The current creation is marred, but the New Creation will be 'just right' :)

And whenever I think on these things I get thrown by Luke 24:36-43. He ate a fish :O I mean, I always thought that resurrection was a kind of spiritual thing and that the body was not really like our bodies now at all. But apparently I am wrong because he ate a fish :O

I believe that I have a tendency to underestimate the world around me. It is impressive, but I feel that it is not enough and will be nothing like it is now. So why, then, a stone in Revelation 2:17? And a tree in Revelation 2:7? Perhaps the fulfillment of righteousness is not so radically different from what I already have seen. Now that makes me wonder how much I underestimate this first creation!
No wonder I love art. It is one thing, at least, that stops to take creation into appreciation simply because it is beautiful.
