I got braille

Today is a very special day. I got braille in the mail!

Even though I have wanted to be a braille transcriber for a few years, this was the first time that I ever saw - let alone handle - a braille publication. I am so thrilled! Pictures are behind the cut.

I am holding the magazine to show how big the pages are.
I was surprised by the large size of the pages. I shouldn't have been, because I knew that the standard size of braille publication pages is 11 x 11.5 inches.

Close up of the braille letters
These pages are neat because there is braille on both sides on the same sheet. I won't be able to read that with my eyes because the dots from the opposite side visually interfere with the dots on the front. Time to start teaching my fingers a new skill!

Me smiling, waving, and holding the magazine in front of the camera
I am a happy prospective-braille transcriber :)

PS: Pictures were taken with my macbook's PhotoBooth program and so everything is in mirror-image. Sorry about that!
