As soon as I got home from work, I swallowed up my sandwich, turned on the misting humidifier in the kitchen, donned my German headphones, and set to writing. I actually started digging around the draft for a different story than I had been thinking of at work.
I spent the rest of the evening reading the 84 pages of chapter drafts that I had typed and working to correct inconsistencies where draft versions overlapped. I had forgotten how much fun some of my characters are. The way that they interact and the environments in which they do so are very enjoyable. I couldn't help but laugh as I read it. Without realizing it, I had really missed this story. It's been an evolving work that started as a 7th grade Social Studies project. Some of the characters date back to that original plot, but it sure has changed over the years. Someday, I'll pull everything together and call it a complete story. In the meantime, I have a timeline in my head, pieces of chapters on paper, and lots of love for the characters who will someday fill the pages.
Writing is such a pleasure.
