Cane, concert, and other news

Monday I went to work as usual, though I was still tired from being sick all weekend. I got home to find a new handbook and a white cane in the mail. The container that the cane had traveled in was broken in a couple places, and I was sure that the poor hollow carbon fiber cane would come out in pieces. To my surprise, it somehow survived! I immediately put it to work practicing the things that I had learned at the Washington Seminar. I won't be going outside with it, but I plan to use it indoors for practice.

Tuesday I had a meeting downtown for work over lunch break and then in the evening my flat-mate and I attended the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra performance. It was really neat to hear the blending of the traditional orchestra with the flute, lute, zither, and drum of Qatar. I really enjoyed the sounds, the changing rhythms, and the mood of the music. They were excellent. It was well worth the price, but I was pretty tired by the time we got home. In fact, I think I fell asleep before my head hit the pillow!

I doubt that I will do anything productive this evening. I am exhausted from the week so far. The shamrock shake made me more sleepy, if anything.
