Wellman's Airship, Titanic crew, Interviews

Here are some of things that I have gotten into lately:

In 1910, a group of 5 men tried to fly across the Atlantic in an airship. Their navigator was an officer from the White Star liner Oceanic. A wireless radio and a cat also went aboard... Here's a link to the story about the cat. LOC holds some photos of their airship.

Shortly after the Titanic disaster in 1912, some survivors of Titanic's crew were caught on camera in NYC near the S. S. Lapland. The Lapland took most of the crew survivors back to England after the sinking. I don't recognize any of these men, though.

Finally, I felt that this youtube video was nicely done. It's composed of a couple of different short interviews with survivors, including the 2nd and 4th officers. Second Officer Lightoller also wrote a book about his years at sea and includes some chapters on Titanic. His stories about other ships (including the Oceanic) are quite neat and extremely amusing at times. I've only read bits and pieces, but it is quite a pleasure to read. It's called Titanic and Other Ships.
