4th of July weekend 2009 (quick overview)

Friday: Gettysburg.
Visited with my family to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. Ate ham sandwiches for lunch, went out to shoot clay pigeons, played some cards, ate at Hickory Bridge for dinner to the sound of a hammered dulcimer and pleasant conversation! On the menu: fresh bread, spiced peaches, salad with hot bacon dressing, chicken, roast beef, crab imperial, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, baked apples, corn fritters, and raspberry ice cream pie. Yummy!

Saturday: Washington, DC.
Worked on board the American Spirit this morning, took a nap this afternoon, transcribed crew lists this evening. Ate up some yummy cherries, pineapple, and butternut squash cookies sent from my family.

Sunday: Washington, DC.
Plans to go work at the marina in the morning and to go out sailing with a ham radio friend in the afternoon.

I think someday it would be nice to live in a place that has both sailing ships and plenty of home-grown & home-cooked food and small towns :)
