So, seamen on cruise ships these days make about $1,500 a month and the basic IT folks make about $2,500 a month. Hmmm... Well, I suppose if you are living on board, you save on the cost of food and utilities. I sure would like to try my hand at a job at sea someday in some way, shape, or form, but I have absolutely no idea how I'd manage it. In the meantime, I'll continue working 一生懸命 (isshoukenmei = with all I've got) at my job and take up work on the schooner when I can. At least my cubical is colored with vintage travel posters and a "prize" laminated photo that I won by identifying Robert Cornelius on the poster on the back door to our office space.
