By Whom we stand/fall

Looking at Psalm 27 this evening, I saw two contrasting images:

He shall set me high upon a rock. (v5)
My enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. (v2)

The person who trusts in the Lord Jesus stands upon the rock, a solid foundation. The person who trusts in anything else for righteousness and salvation lives in opposition to God and stumbles upon that same rock and falls.

Luke 20:17-18 - Then He looked at them and said, 'What then is this that is written: "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone" [Psalm 118:22]? Whoever falls on that stone will be broken...'

John 3:18 - He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
