"But I am a worm"
The speaker in Psalm 22 recognizes both who God is and who he is.
Does this cause the speaker to flee from God's presence? Does this cause the speaker to fall into despondency and discouragement? No, no. All of this causes the speaker to cry out to God all the more: "Be not far from Me" "You have brought Me to the dust of death...But You, O LORD, do not be far from Me" "O My Strength, hasten to help Me!" "Deliver Me... Save Me...!"
