While Jesus suffered on the cross, the people mocked him. I don't know much about Greek or Hebrew, but it seems to me as though they are specifically mocking his name (or the meaning of his name) in Matthew 27:41-42. His name means "the LORD is salvation" or "whose help is the LORD." The messenger of Jesus' birth spoke about the reason for his name: "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS [the LORD is salvation], for He will save His people from their sins." Matthew 1:21
