Verses to consider this week

2 Timothy 2:4 - "No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier."

1 Peter 2:11 - "Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul..."

Spiritual warfare

2 Corinthians 10:4-5a - "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God..."

That great day of God

Revelation 16:14 - "...the battle of that great day of God Almighty." Revelation 19:11 - "Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war."

Love by means of Prophecy

Acts 14:1, 3, 8 - "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy ... he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men ... if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?"

Acts 20:31 - "Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears."

O, my Strength!

Hebrews 11:33-35 - "through faith [they]
   subdued kingdoms,
      worked righteousness,
         obtained promises,
            stopped the mouths of lions,
   quenched the violence of fire,
escaped the edge of the sword,
out of weakness were made strong,
            became valiant in battle,
turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Women received their dead raised to life again.
Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection."

Again, I'm reminded of the quote from Richard Wurmbrand's book Alone with God (page 41) where he said, "The Christian is engaged in warfare as long as he lives on this earth. But his role can be compared to that of a military physician. He has to give medicine and comfort to the wounded on both sides." May I be bold enough to reach out and love others.
