Story stumble

This afternoon I stumbled on a story snippet that I wrote in 2003 about a character whose boss had suddenly committed suicide. I read over it breathlessly. I couldn't remember writing this.

It left me with a sad, burning feeling inside. I dug up that old story this evening and spent some time weaving its threads. Even after all these years I haven't quite given up on it. Perhaps now it's merely a thing to help me make sense of my own fears, experiences, and dreams.

Ah, my characters! Are you simply reflections of my own imagination or are you something more?
