Recent Bible studies and activities

Recently, I've been searching through the Scriptures as one famished. I had praised God one week ago for giving me a thirst to read 2 Samuel and in the wake of that praise, I've found it answered with even more desire for His word. Praise the Lord :)

This weekend, I did a quick study of "praise" through the Psalms, especially in light of Psalm 30. I also started a highlighting project in my new Bible. In my old Bible, I went through the four gospels and highlighted Jesus' words according to his audience. This time, I'm working through the Torah and highlighting 1) God's works, 2) God's commands, 3) conditionals/promises/etc, and 4) quotations. I started in Leviticus and worked my way back through the first half of Exodus. It's helping me to grasp the structure of these books. They seem much less intimidating as I've gone through them. I enjoyed working through this project at Dunkin Donuts for a few hours yesterday, soaking in the sunshine on the second floor as my roommate worked on other projects. We both had a donut to celebrate :)

This coming week, the Lord is giving me the opportunity to facilitate discussion at our work Bible study in Mark and next week we plan to continue our small group Bible study in 1 John. Whew, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I wish I was a full time Bible scholar.

Between studies, I've walked around Eastern Market, enjoyed the spring flowers and iced tea at local coffee shops, worshiped with brothers and sisters at church this morning, watched The Empire Strikes Back, and played more Lego Star Wars. My new favorite Jedi is Endor-style Luke but I've also had fun with the red Imperial Guard :)

There were a lot of people in church this morning and I got a bit overwhelmed, so I've spent the afternoon resting and listening to music. It's such a comfort to know that God will wipe away every one of His people's tears and make all things new someday. Come quickly, Lord! I'm homesick. I miss you.

"He will swallow up death forever,
And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces;
The rebuke of His people
He will take away from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken." Isaiah 25:8
