1 John 2:12-14

This coming Monday, I'm leading my small group in a study of 1 John 2:12-14. The passage addresses Christians by their level of spiritual maturity and encourages each group with a different truth. I plan to walk my sisters through the meaning of the text, explore questions that they have, and then consider which audience/message they feel applies to each of them and where we can find reasons to praise God. As for me, I was particularly struck by the phrase "I have written to you, young men, because you are strong..." I feel so weak! Inside, I turned away when I heard these words and refused to believe them. I want to take these to heart this week. Just a few days ago, I talked to my counselor about needing to gain more confidence and this surely is a verse which addresses that! As Paul says, "when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10

In other news, I had a delightful trip to PA last weekend :) I hope to post pictures and stories soon!

I had fun shopping for earplugs online yesterday :P

This morning I enjoyed Bible study time with a sister from my small group. It was so pleasant to examine the passage together while a soft rain fell outside. I tried my first iced mocha and loved it. We hope to make this a Saturday morning ritual :)

This afternoon I had some quality time with two of my roommates. We had an important discussion about house maintenance. It was difficult to hear and sit through and I caught myself rocking a bit while I sat on the floor. (I was spoiled by my grandparent's rocking chair while I was home^^) Rather than stop, I just kept it up. The conversation went on for quite a good while, but I made it through without breaking down as I have during other house meetings - yay, praise the Lord! Medicine and mild stimming are a good combination for me, I think. Midway through the discussion, one roommate asked, "Are you ok? You're rocking..." I told her that I knew - and that I was ok. When they finished, one gave me a big hug and assured me that she wasn't mad at me. The other also checked to make sure that I felt ok. It's so good to have the support of caring friends and family :)

Now it's time for some music...whew, I'm tired, but feeling good. It's been refreshing to sit at Jesus' feet and consider His Kingship this past week.
