I wish I were a Vulcan :)

"The heart knows its own bitterness, and a stranger does not share its joy." Proverbs 14:10

This evening I was watching Star Trek and was feeling jealous. I wished that the Vulcan mind-meld was real! As I was thinking about it, I also thought, "But God has a clear communication line with us and He fully knows our thoughts and feelings even without words." Wow! I'd known that before, but it struck me anew this evening. I know that there are different kinds of prayer - silent prayers, group prayers, prayers with tears, joyful prayers in song. Is it possible that another type of "prayer" is maintaining an open line of communication with the Father throughout the day where thoughts/feelings are communicated more so than words (at least until His word is written more and more upon our hearts...it's awesome when Scripture comes to mind naturally in the midst of joy or trial or simple days without trying to bring the words to mind!)? Anyway, is that what Paul means when he encourages us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)?

"...You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men..." -1 Kings 8:39
"...He knows the secrets of the heart." Psalm 44:21
"...God knows your hearts..." Luke 16:15

And let me praise God for His kindness to listen to me! It's only in Christ that I find such mercy. Apart from Christ, the door to the presence of God was shut; but Jesus has opened the door (Leviticus 16:2; Matthew 27:51; Hebrews 6:19)! Jesus Christ is the door (John 10:7) and the way (John 14:6). As Psalm 66 says,

"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.
But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer nor His mercy from me!"
