On Pokemon

This fall, I bought my first traditional Pokemon game for the Nintendo 3DS. I'm not quite sure how I got thinking about Pokemon; but on a whim, I decided that I wanted to play one of the games and downloaded Pokemon X onto my system one evening. I was anxious about starting, because I didn't know what the rules were or what to expect. I started off carefully, learning one step at a time: here's how to fight a wild pokemon, how to capture it, how to heal my pokemon, how to save the game, etc. I'm loving it :) It's fun to meet and learn about so many different types of pokemon. I like collecting them, organizing them in boxes, battling against various types, and looking through them in my pokedex (a Pokemon Index - love it!). It makes me laugh when my Pokemon purr or chirp after I make faces at them. The game has beautiful graphics and it's not as hard as I expected it to be. (I still have a long way to go, though!) I'm glad that I got the game.

It reminds me of the Pokemon Center in Umeda that I visited with my friend Gina. I wrote about the trip back then, and the posts also made me smile: before and after. I found some photos of the store online yesterday. The neatly sorted shelves full of plushie pokemon make me feel so happy :) There's order and cuteness all in one! When I was in Japan, I somehow restrained myself and only bought three plushies: Eevee, Plusle, and Minun. I recently added Chespin to the group. For some reason, plushie characters like Pokemon and Giant Microbes - each with their own personality profile and character - are so appealing. Someday, I hope to visit a Pokemon Center again (there is only one on the East Coast, though, as part of another store) to wander through the colorful displays. Until then, I will enjoy exploring the world of Kalos and adding to my Pokedex :)
